Loka–Kandija Footbridge and Cycle Path

The Loka–Kandija Footbridge and Cycle Path (Julija Footbridge) connects the banks of the Krka River in Novo mesto and complements the network of walking and cycling paths along the river. On the right bank, it is located just before the confluence of the Težka voda stream, where an entrance square is arranged, while on the left bank it is connected to Župančič Promenade by a ramp and stairs.

The steel structure is supported by a single central pier in the bed of the Krka River, which visually links the new footbridge with the nearby railway bridge and the Kandija Bridge. In the middle of the bridge there is a viewing platform that provides visitors with a resting place as well as views towards Breg and Kapitelj.

The project included the construction of a multifunctional footbridge, the arrangement of the entrance square, access ramps and stairs, and the connection to walking and cycling paths along the Težka voda stream.

As the professional construction supervisor, we carried out supervision of the execution of the steel structure, installation of load-bearing elements, quality control of materials and joints, supervision of the construction of access areas, and coordination of construction with contractors, documentation, and legislation.

The project was completed in accordance with all requirements and has obtained an occupancy permit. Today, the footbridge represents a modern and architecturally refined connection that enables pedestrians and cyclists to experience the Krka River and the city centre in a new way.
