Štanjel Castle

As part of the project, the IDP, DGD, PZI and PID documentation was prepared. Štanjel Castle consists of several parts, namely the NW part of the lower palace, the SE part of the lower palace, the NW part of the upper palace, the SE part of the upper palace, a square tower, an auxiliary building and a tower with a spiral staircase, and a castle courtyard. Different phases of project documentation were prepared for individual sections of the castle, in accordance with the needs of the client and the condition of the buildings. In the reconstructed parts of the castle, various spaces intended for a wider range of users were created - an info point, a wine shop, a knight's hall, a wedding room, conference halls, a museum of Nature and Man in the Karst, a museum of the Slovenian language and books, an observation tower, a cultural incubator, office spaces, storage spaces, and the arrangement of the castle courtyard and other parts of the external arrangement of the castle buildings. The client thus gradually renovated and returned the entire castle to use in several phases of the renovation. The main idea of interior renovation is to clearly present the original quality structures, separate from the added new structures that were necessary for structural or functional reasons.
